Sell Your Comic Books in Central Virginia
Inherited a comic collection, clearing out longboxes, or ready to part with books you’ve collected over the years? Jason Buys Comics is the comic-collection buying service from Fates Collectibles, our family-run collectibles business near Scottsville, Virginia.
Send me some basic information and representative photos. I’ll review the collection and let you know whether it may be a good fit.
Tell Me About Your Comic Collection
Share some basic information and upload a few representative photos of the comics, boxes, or shelves. You do not need to photograph every issue. I’ll review what you send and contact you within 1–2 business days about the next step.
What Comic Collections Do I Buy?
I’m interested in comic collections of many sizes and eras, from a few boxes to large longbox collections. I review each collection based on what it contains, its condition, reader and collector demand, and whether it makes sense for Fates Collectibles to purchase it as a whole.
Inherited and Stored Collections
Collections inherited from a family member, discovered during a cleanout, or stored for years in closets, basements, or attics. You do not need to identify or price every comic before contacting me.
Runs, Keys, and Character Collections
Long or partial runs, key issues, first appearances, notable covers, and collections centered on characters such as X-Men, Spider-Man, Batman, Spawn, and other Marvel, DC, Image, or independent titles.
Longboxes and Mixed Comic Lots
Bagged and boarded comics, loose issues, longboxes, short boxes, graphic novels, and mixed collections. Common books can still be useful when they complete desirable runs or storylines.
How Selling Your Comic Collection Works
Send Details and Photos
Tell me approximately how many comics you have, where the collection is located, and anything you know about it. Upload photos showing the boxes and a representative selection of covers.
I Review the Collection
I’ll look for the collection’s general era, condition, notable issues, runs, characters, and resale demand. I may ask for additional photos or recommend an in-person inspection before discussing an offer.
We Arrange the Next Step
If the collection looks like a good fit, we can arrange an inspection, local meeting, or pickup. Any offer will be for the collection as a whole, and there is no obligation to accept it.
Questions People Usually Ask
Do I need to know what my comics are worth?
No. You do not need to research or price every issue before contacting me. A general description and representative photos are enough for the initial review. I may ask for closer photos of particular comics if something needs further identification.
Do you buy entire comic collections?
Yes, I primarily evaluate collections as a whole, including key issues, runs, common books, and slower-selling material. You may earn more by selling comics individually over time, while a collection-level sale provides a simpler and faster option.
Are comic books from the 1990s worth anything?
Some are, although many 1990s comics were printed in large quantities. First appearances, scarce variants, newsstand editions, notable covers, complete runs, and popular titles such as X-Men or Spawn may have stronger demand. The exact issue and condition matter.
How do you calculate an offer for a comic collection?
I consider recent comparable sales, condition, demand, the number and type of comics, and the time and cost required to sort, catalog, store, and resell the collection. Offers are based on the collection as a whole rather than the combined full retail price of every issue.
What photos should I send?
Start with photos showing the boxes or shelves, followed by several clear photos of representative covers. If the collection is organized, photographs of the labels or groups are useful. You do not need to photograph every comic unless I request additional images.
Where do you buy comic collections?
I’m based near Scottsville and buy comic collections throughout Central Virginia, including Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Fluvanna County, and Palmyra. I may travel toward Richmond or Lynchburg for larger collections that justify the distance.
Meet Jason

II'm Jason, owner of Fates Collectibles, our family-run collectibles business near Scottsville, Virginia.
I buy comic collections to sort, catalog, and resell through Fates Collectibles. That means I look at both the standout issues and the realities of handling the entire collection—common books, incomplete runs, condition problems, and everything between.
If you are unsure what you inherited or simply do not want to research and sell hundreds of comics yourself, send me some photos. I’ll be straightforward about whether the collection looks like a good fit and what the next step would be.
